After the all-clear from the Ministry of Tourism we resumed our normal diving activities in the afternoon.
Courses on the house reef and boat trips to the west side of the atoll - Vellassaru Caves.
The diving conditions are absolutely normal and good as ever!! |

Dear diving friends,
As you have heard in the news, Maldives suffered a hit by a tidal wave, which came from Sumatra. The water was rising heavily but is on the way back to normal again. Our islands Embudu, Summer Island and Gan are OK. Just in Summer Island we had a bit more water than on the others. We had no injuries and we stopped our diving trips in time. This information is for all people who are trying to come in contact with the islands, but the telephones are busy all the time. All tourists on these 3 islands are OK!
We hope the situation will be back to normal during the day.
Best regards Wolfgang Brak |

South East Asia Quake
Due to the earthquake off the west coast of Northern Sumatra there has been some flooding in this region including Maldives.
We are communicating with the resorts and monitoring the situation. As precautionary measure we advice the following;
- No water sports activities should take place. Rg: diving, safaris, snorkeling, etc.
- for safari boats; we advice them to be in a secure area.
current situation
Male' International Airport is closed for the time being. (We expect the airport to be back in operation sometime today). Therefore we advice to check the airport situation before taking passengers from resorts for departure.
We are experiencing some communication difficulties, but we hope you will be able to contact us in case of an emergency.

It's been said, that the international airport has reopend; at least for departing flights.
We receive information, that flights that have been diverted to Colombo are returning directly back to Europe.
Other islands, resort as well as local islands, seem to have been hit worse than us.
The communication between the islands is very difficult, we receive only little information. |
